What makes this game special?

Every December, the World Juniors bring together some of the best young hockey players from around the globe to compete for gold in one of Canada's favourite holiday hockey traditions.

With the tournament returning to Canada, this is our chance to be part of the excitement!

Before the chase for gold begins in Edmonton and Red Deer, Lloydminster will be among a select number of Alberta communities hosting international teams for pre-competition games.

On December 19, Cenovus Energy Hub will welcome two international teams as they prepare for the World Juniors, giving our community a rare opportunity to experience international junior hockey close to home.

You don't need to recognize the players or know the teams to enjoy the experience. It's about the atmosphere, the excitement, and being part of something special happening right here in Lloydminster.

Adopt our home team!

They're training in Lloydminster. Let's make them feel at home!

Team Latvia will be calling Cenovus Energy Hub home as they prepare for the World Juniors, and we're inviting the entire community to get behind them.

Wear maroon and white, fill the stands, and show our adopted home team what a Lloydminster crowd can do!

You don't need to know the players or follow the team to join the excitement. Just bring your cheers and help create a hometown atmosphere they'll remember.

One international team. One adopted hometown.
